Our programmes
Regular Course (RC)
The regular courses, designed to address the needs of teachers and educators from SEAMEO member countries, are stimulating, creative, and responsive to their professional needs. The themes and topics of the four-week courses are determined in consultation with all member countries through strategic planning workshops that assess past performance, identify emerging trends, and determine principal lines of action for educational development. The courses are conducted by RECSAM on a regular basis.
Customised Course (CC)
A customised course offers a tailored-based content from our clients. This includes a range of Science, Mathematics, and ICT-based educational topics that suit the specific needs of teachers and educators. Among popular topics are the Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (CER), STEM Education Leadership, Problem-Based Learning, and Computational Thinking.
In-Country Course
To reach a broader regional audience, SEAMEO RECSAM offers in-country courses tailored to member countries’ needs. Institutions may invite our consultants to deliver training on-site, ensuring relevance and convenience. We invite interested parties to send a detailed proposal, outlining the content, target participants, and preferred schedule, to our office for consideration.
MTCP/TCTP Course
Launched in 1980, the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) advances South-South Cooperation by providing over 60 annual training programs in key development areas, such as agriculture, public administration, digital security, and sustainable development, to more than 35,500 participants from 144 countries, with the core goals of sharing Malaysia's development experience, strengthening bilateral ties, and promoting technical cooperation among developing nations.
Conference on Science and Mathematics Education (CoSMEd)
CoSMEd is a biennial education conference that seeks to empower teachers and educators with the latest educational research in the region. In every conference, a specific theme is chosen to reflect the focus area to be explored. The next CoSMEd will be in 2027.
Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists (SSYS)
The Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists (SSYS) congress at SEAMEO RECSAM serves as a dynamic platform for young minds to explore scientific and technological advancements while addressing urgent global challenges. Through collaborative learning, interdisciplinary teamwork, and the application of STEM principles, SSYS equips young learners with the skills necessary to develop sustainable solutions that benefit society and the environment.
SEAMEO Science Olympiad (SEASO)
SEASO aims to stimulate scientific thinking and knowledge exploration among secondary school students by applying knowledge to real-life technological problem-solving to address multiple issues, including those related to sustainable development. It plays a strong role in encouraging and involving young learners in pursuing scientific knowledge, as well as increasing their awareness of the relationships among various science fields in daily life.
SEAMEO Mathematics Olympiad (SEAMO)
SEAMEO Mathematics Olympiad (SEAMO) is a regional competition for secondary school students across Southeast Asia, scheduled for 1-5 February March 2027 at SEAMEO RECSAM in Penang, Malaysia. Unlike traditional exam-based Olympiads, SEAMO features a multi-level, activity-driven format with hands-on challenges, real-world problem-solving, and creative presentations.
SEAMEO Summer Camp (SEASCA)
SEAMEO Summer Camp (SEASCA) is a five-day residential programme for primary/secondary school students (aged 10–18) from Southeast Asia, scheduled for 31 May – 4 June 2027 at SEAMEO RECSAM in Penang, Malaysia. The camp integrates hands-on STEM workshops, digital and AI literacy training, life skills (including first aid and safety), financial literacy, and leadership communication exercises.
Digital Storytelling Contests (DISCONT)
The Digital Storytelling Contest (DISCONT) is a flagship virtual programme of SEAMEO RECSAM that invites students and teachers across SEAMEO member countries to create short videos blending creativity with digital tools to explore how STEM principles can transform education. Through this competition, participants develop 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration while envisioning innovative and immersive learning experiences.
Edu-Vacation Programme
This programme covers single workshop sessions lasting 2 to 6 hours. Its goal is to spark and sustain interest in STEM among teachers and students. If you're visiting Malaysia, you're welcome to drop by our Centre for a workshop at your convenience. Everyone is invited!
